Foreign Direct Investment in India:
- Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said FDI inflows are increasing rapidly in India, leading to rapid economic growth and creation of lakhs of new jobs.
- Foreign direct investment (FDI) is the direct investment by a foreign entity in the manufacturing or trading of goods or services in a country. Such an investment can be made by buying a company in the country or expanding your company. It is not a passive investment in shares or bonds of that country’s companies.
- The capital stock of a foreign direct investment (FDI) is the net inflow and outflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) over a period of time.

Tamil Nadu Government Announces Awards
- The Tamil Nadu government has announced Thiruvalluvar Awards.
- Ambedkar Award – General Secretary of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Th. Dravidar Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Viduthalai Rajendran will receive the Periyar award.
- Thiruvalluvar Award for the year 2025 will be provided to the student. Anna Award for the year 2024 – Veteran Politician L. Ganesan, Bharathiar Award – Poet and Lyricist Kabilan, Bharatidasan Award – Poet Selvaganapathy, Shri. Award – Writer and physician G.R. Ravindranath, K.R. A. P. Viswanatham Award – Writer V. They will be given to PM Modi.
- The awardees will be given Rs 2 lakh each.
- Periyar Award for the year 2024 – Viduthalai Rajendran, General Secretary of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam, Ambedkar Award – Thu. Ravikumar.
- The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh.
- Writer Muthu Vavasi, who worked as a special assistant to Karunanidhi, will receive the award.
- Chief Minister MK Stalin will present the awards to all the awardees on January 15, the Thiruvalluvar festival.
