Swamitva Scheme:
- Under the Swamitva scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute 58 lakh octroi-sized ‘title deeds’ to rural property owners.
- Swamitva scheme was launched for land survey and mapping with improved technology in rural areas.
- Under this project, drone survey has been completed in 3.17 villages.
- The SVAMITVA scheme was launched on 24th April 2020 with an aim to provide an integrated property verification solution to rural India.
- Under this scheme, mapping of every property is being done with the help of drones in all the villages of the country.
- After mapping the property and demarcating the boundary, the ownership certificate of the property is issued to the people of the respective village.
- The demarcation or enumeration of inhabited land in rural areas is done using the latest measurement system, i. e. using the technology of drone, with the joint efforts of Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Survey of India, State Panchayati Raj Department and State Revenue Department.
- Through this scheme, to end the property disputes in the villages, it is trying to demarcate the property of the villagers and give them a certificate of ownership of their property.
- The scheme aims to help rural people avail credit facilities on the basis of certificate of ownership of their land, as in cities.
- The scheme was launched on a pilot basis in six states across the country – Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.
Ken-Betwa River Link Project: Madhya Pradesh
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Ken-Betwa interlinking project in Madhya Pradesh.
- This is the first project to be implemented under the National River Linking Initiative (NRDIP), which was launched in 1980.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated a floating solar power project at Omkareshwar in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
- A 221-km canal is being constructed to connect Ken and Betwa to the Yamuna’s tributaries.
- This will help in mitigating drought in the backward Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.
- It will generate 103 MW of hydroelectric power and 27 MW of solar power.
Post-work training in Japan with the ‘Naan Mudhalvan ‘ program:
- The government college students who returned to Chennai after completing their training said with pride that they got the opportunity to go to Japan for on-the-job training under the ‘I am the Chief Minister’ scheme.
- The Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) is implementing the ‘Naan Muthuman’ programme with the objective of improving the skills of students and youth in Government Colleges.
- The Government of Tamil Nadu launched the Naan Mukhyamantri Yojana in March 2022.
- It is an attempt to provide effective and comprehensive guidance on career development and higher education to government school students.
- Tamil Nadu has exceeded the expectations of the Union Government and has achieved 47% of the total enrolment in higher education.
December 26: The Day of the Tsunami
- It has been 20 years since the devastating Tsunami hit Tamil Nadu on December 26, 2004.
- The word tsunami means “harbor wave” in Japanese.
