International Film Festival of India:
- International Film Festival of India will be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.
- A new award category has been introduced at the 55th International Film Festival of India.
- It has been announced that 5 film directors including Manipuri and Marathi have been nominated for the 55th International Film Festival of India in the Best Debut Director category to encourage talented new and young film directors.
- This award is newly introduced at the International Film Festival of India.
New Consulate of India in Brisbane:
- External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar inaugurated the new Indian Consulate in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia.
- This will lead to strengthening India’s trade, educational and other ties with the state of Queensland.
- This is the fourth Indian consulate to be opened in Australia.
- There are already Indian consulates in Sydney, Melbourne and Potts.
- A statue of Mahatma Gandhi has been erected at Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane.
‘Madras – EYE’:
- Due to climate change, eye infection called ‘Madras-Eye’ is spreading now.
- Madras-eye is a fungal infection of the membrane connecting the eye and eyelid.
- It can be caused by viruses and bacteria caused by climate change.
- The disease was first diagnosed in Chennai in 1918 and is known as Madras Eye.
- The name of this virus is enterovirus, Adenovirus.
CM Pharmacy from January 2025:
- The Tamil Nadu government has announced that CM Pharmacy will be available for public use from January 2025.
- Chief Minister M. K. Stalin announced that 1000 Chief Minister’s Pharmacies will be started in the first phase to make generic drugs and other medicines available to the public at low cost.
- Generic medicines required for Mudhalvar Marunthagams will be procured and supplied by the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation Limited and other medicines, medical equipment, Siddha, Ayurveda, IMPCOPS, TAMPCOL, Unani, surgical and nutraceuticals will be procured and supplied by Tamil Nadu Cooperative Consumer Federation.
November 5: World Tsunami Awareness Day
- World Tsunami Awareness Day is observed on November 5 to highlight the dangers of tsunamis and emphasize the importance of early warning systems in reducing damage caused by natural disasters.
- The theme of this year’s World Tsunami Awareness Day 2024 is: “Early Warning and Early Action Before Every Tsunami”.
- This year’s theme focuses on the importance of having effective forecasting systems to save lives and reduce the impact of tsunamis.
