Exports boosted by “Self-reliant India” programme:

  • The aim is to support local products through the “Self Reliant India programme”.
  • On May 12 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a policy announcement to rein in 30 years of liberal, globalizing economic policy to make the country self-reliant.
  • Its aim is to substitute domestic products for foreign manufactured and imported goods.
  • Companies should manufacture world-class products in India.
  • Industrial companies and start-ups should come forward to manufacture all products in India without compromising on quality.
  • Self-reliant India and Make in India programs are similar programs and focus on manufacturing and exports.
  • Self-reliance means promoting the advantages of national competitiveness.
