Deadline for introduction of ‘BS 7’:
- The 42nd meeting of the Transport Development Committee and State Transport Ministers was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
- It also discussed the timeline for introduction of new norms for BS-7, the proposed emission standard for vehicles in India, at par with Euro-7, to reduce pollution.
- The adoption of PUCC 2.0 software for issuing pollution under control certificates across the country has also been ensured by the States and revised guidelines have been issued.
One Nation, One Election: First meeting of Joint Committee of Parliament
- The first meeting of the Joint Committee of Parliament set up to consider the ‘One Nation One Poll’ bills is going to be held.
- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to hold simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
- The opposition parties had demanded that the bill be sent to a joint parliamentary committee for review.
- The 39-member committee is headed by BJP MP B. P. Chaudhary.
- The first meeting of the committee was held in Delhi.
