‘Bala Puraskar Award ‘for 17 children:
- The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will present this year’s Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 17 children for their achievements in various fields on December 26, 2018.
- The award is given annually on the occasion of Veera Bala Divas on December 26 to children who have excelled in the fields of art and culture, bravery, innovation, science and technology, social service, sports and environment.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Shubhoshit Panchayat’ scheme to improve nutrition in villages.
- The day is celebrated to encourage the contribution of the young generation towards the development of the nation.
- Similarly, the Ministry of Women and Child Development said that the Rashtriya Bal Diwas and Subodh Panchayat schemes are aimed at making the next generation better citizens.
Rs 237 crore for development works in Sri Lanka
- India has allocated Rs. 237.1 crore for various development works in Sri Lanka.
- In the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, 33 development projects in various sectors including education, health and agriculture are to be taken up through this assistance.
- The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Sri Lanka on bilateral socio-economic development projects.
The 48 projects that will save us the amount of free treatment provided under the ‘Save Us 48’ scheme has been increased to Rs 2 lakh.
- The ‘Another Save Us 48’ scheme was launched by the Chief Minister on December 18, 2021.
- The aim is to save the lives of those involved in road accidents.
- The scheme is being implemented by identifying 500 places in Tamil Nadu where the highest number of road accidents occur and identifying nearby private and government hospitals.
- Under the scheme, Rs 5,000 will be given to the victims of road accidents.
- In this scheme, not only the people of Tamil Nadu, but also the people of other states and foreign countries, if there is an accident, in the first 48 hours, whether they have money or not, they are given treatment in the hospital and steps are taken to save their lives.
- The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for the purpose.

- National Good Governance Day is observed in India every year on the 25th of December, on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
