12 Sukhoi aircraft at Rs 13,500 crore: Defence Ministry signs deal
- The Defence Ministry has signed a deal with Hindustan Aeronautics to buy 12 Sukhoi fighter jets for the Indian Air Force at a cost of Rs 13,500 crore.
- The deal for the purchase from Hindustan Aeronautics is part of the Government of India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
- These aircraft, which will have 62.6 per cent indigenous components, will be manufactured at HAL’s Nashik factory.
One Nation, One Election Scheme:
- ‘One Nation, One Election’ is a proposal under consideration by the Government of India to hold all elections in the country on a single day or within a specified period.
- One of its notable plans is to hold simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state assemblies of 28 states and 8 union territories.
- On 2 September 2023, the Government of India announced the formation of a high-level committee to study the possibility of holding simultaneous elections.

Disaster Management Bill:
- The Central Government brought this new bill with several amendments aimed at improving disaster preparedness as the states faced various challenges in implementing the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and the bill was passed by voice vote in the Lok Sabha.

- It is responsible for formulating policies, guidelines and formulating best practices for coordination with the State Disaster Management Authorities.
