New Quality Control Unit for Aviation Security: CISF

  • The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which provides security to airports in the country, has set up a new internal quality control unit to improve the efficiency of its aviation security unit.
  • A new internal quality control unit has been set up to improve the efficiency of the CISF aviation security unit.
  • The new unit will function as a part of the CISF Aviation Security Control Centre in Delhi.
  • The initiative is in line with the National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Scheme, 2024, and the Aviation (Security) Rules, 2023, published by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
  • This will help in unifying security across all airports in the country, including those operating under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN.

PM-KISAN:

  • The farmers have made various demands, including increasing the subsidy provided under the Prime Minister’s Farmers’ Assistance (PM-KISAN) scheme from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000, and reducing the interest on agricultural loans.
  • The farmers have made demands, including introducing zero instalment scheme for crops of small farmers under the Prime Minister’s Agricultural Crops Insurance Scheme.
  • The farmers have made demands, including transferring agriculture from the State List to the General List and establishing a Central Agricultural Service Centre.
  • PM-KISAN is a 100% funded Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India.
  • Under this, all small and marginal farmers will be provided with a minimum income support of ₹6,000 per year.
  • This scheme was announced by Piyush Goyal during the Interim Budget of India in February 2019.
  • The scheme was implemented in December 2018.
  • Every eligible farmer will receive 6,000 per year in three instalments directly into their bank accounts.

International Meditation Day on December 21: UN approves India’s proposal

  • The UN General Assembly has approved an India-sponsored resolution to declare December 21 as the International Meditation Day.
  • Introduced by the European country of Liechtenstein, the resolution was supported by India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mexico, Bulgaria, Burundi, Dominican Republic, Iceland, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco and Slovenia.

December 21 marks the winter solstice.
