Prime Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme:
- The Union Cabinet approved the construction of an additional 2 crore houses from 2024-25 to 2028-29 under the Prime Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme.
- The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme was launched by the Union Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 June 2015.
- The essence of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is to solve rural housing shortage and improve quality housing for the poor.
- It is the most important program of the central government under the poverty alleviation program of the government.
- For this project, it has been divided into 2 areas namely Urban + Rural.
- Under this scheme, subsidy is provided to the beneficiaries for construction of houses.
- In these 9 years so far more than 3.04 crore durable houses have been constructed for the rural people.
- Of this, 75 per cent belong to SC/ST or minority communities, which is the most significant aspect.
Atma Nirbhar Horticulture Clean Plant Scheme:
- The Union Cabinet has approved an allocation of Rs 1,765.67 crore for the Pure Plant Scheme announced in last year’s budget to increase the quality and production of fruit crops.
- The Atma Nirbhar Clean Plant Project has been launched to increase the availability of disease-free, quality plant material for the production of high-value horticultural crops.
- A pure plant is a plant that has been tested in several dimensions before planting.
- First, the plants are tested for disease.
- Secondly, plants that are growing in abundance are identified.
- Tissue samples are collected from thriving plants.
- These tissues are attached to other plants and their productivity is also increased.
New Aviation Bill:
- The Lok Sabha has passed the ‘Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak’ Bill, which has been introduced to replace the 90-year-old Aviation Act, with the aim of ensuring ease of doing business in the country’s aviation sector.
- As India is one of the countries with the fastest growing aviation market in the world, the law brought in the year 1934 regarding the aviation sector is in force.
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation will set up an ‘Effective Online System’ to address people’s grievances, including air fare hikes, and ensure timely response to their complaints and queries.
Bronze for Aman Sehrawat at Paris Olympics: Wrestling
- Indian athlete Aman Sehrawat won bronze medal in Paris Olympic wrestling.
- India’s medal tally increased to 6.
- In the men’s 57kg freestyle category, Aman Sehrawat defeated Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico in the bronze medal round.
- India has won a medal in Olympic wrestling for the 5th time in a row.
